She was part of the Seattle Reign FC - now OL Reign - of the National Women's Soccer League NWSL that was established after the WPS broke up - and then was her team. Rapinoe eventually rose to the role of captain and became the team's best scorers. She helped lead her team U.S. Women's World Cup team to consecutive victories in the year 2015. In 2018, she took on the position of cocaptain to the U.S. team. Rapinoe, who had two points for the United States in the 4-3 victory against Australia in the Olympic bronze medal match in Tokyo in 2020 because of the COVID-19 epidemic that Japan had to delay until 2021 as a result of this pandemic, also won the gold in Tokyo in the year 2016.
